NARS Foreplay Cheek Palette....

Hello Dears,

I got this little baby for Christmas and it was love at first sight

The Foreplay Palette contains 3 blushes and a highlight and has been designed as the famous Orgasm blush, deconstructed. As well as containing the Orgasm blush itself (the largest section), it contains a matte slightly blue toned hot pink, a matte peachy red colour and a golden highlight.

I don't own the Orgasm blush separately from this palette, in fact, I only own one other Nars blush (Deep Throat), but I have to say, I was disappointed with the pigmentation in the Orgasm shade here. Deep Throat is so smooth and pigmented whereas I found that while this is a pretty colour, pigmentation was pretty poor.

Saying that, the pigmentation of the two matte blushes is outstanding. They're very rich and a little goes a long way, a very light hand is needed with these. The highlighter is also lovely and very effective on the cheeks. It's not nearly so gold on the cheeks as it is in the swatch below. Initially, I thought maybe I got a duff palette given the poor pigmentation of the Orgasm shade but given how good the others are, I'm inclined to think not.

(left to right - Orgasm, Matte Pink, Matte red, highlight)

Despite my pigmentation complaints, Orgasm is a very pretty colour. In fact, I love all the colours in the  palette. They're very easy to work with. Something that I really like about it is that you can create your own bespoke Orgasm shade that works well with your skin. Given how pricey Nars is, I really like this option, I feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck so to speak. Its also handy given how pale I am and will be useful for travelling.

I really love this palette though it is expensive at nearly £40. With that in mind its important to remember that while Orgasm may suit you, not all colours in the palette may do, as its these colours combined that make up Orgasm. Unless you really like the other colours in the palette or are interested in playing around at combining the shades, I think you'd maybe be better off with a full size Orgasm blush.  That being said, I have been left impressed by the matte shades and the highlighter in this palette and its left me wanting to try more of Nars matte blushes!

Topshop Nail Polish Loves...

Hello Dears,

I havent tried any Topshop makeup before but it gets a really good name so I thought it was about time I jumped on the band wagon. My first purchases are two nail polishes that I am really impressed with.

The colours are gorgeous and the quality is great. I have layered them in the pictures below but the blue/purple one was opaque in 2 coats. I'd say that its what I had hoped Max Factor Fantasy Fire would be (I was left quite disappointed with that one).

The polishes are called Plume (the bluey purple) and Razzmatazz (the silver glitter)

I've just got a new camera so i'm still messing around with settings so the pictures aren't that great. It was quite difficult to get a colour accurate photo that shows the gorgeous glitter. The pictures above are both true to life colour. The second ones blurry but it shows the glitters reflective colour quite nicely.  It reminds me of a glittery starry sky.

I cant wait to pick up some more of these nail polishes and to check out more of the topshop line in general.

Caudalie Divine Oil...

Hello Dears,

I was kind of late on the Caudalie band wagon. I'll be honest, one smell of that beauty elixr thing]that everyone seems to love and I thought I'd never like the brand! The scent of that was just horrible to me!

However, I've been converted by the Caudalie Divine Oil.

This is an amazing product. Described as a multi purpose oil that can be used on your face, hair, nails, body, this really is a wonder product.

After one use I was hooked. My skin was so soft, I couldn't believe it. I was a devotee to body shop body butters and i've tried all manor of moisturisers but nothing compares to this. I get quite dry skin on my upper arms and elbows. The first time I used this I put it on before bed, it sunk into my skin almost instantly and when I woke up the next day, my skin was the softest I ever remember it.

(please excuse the dirty mirror!)

A really excellent feature of this is that, lovely packaging aside, it comes with a spray pump so you're not going to get that annoying "oh no I've poured out too much and wasted such an expensive product" feeling. It also means that it is sprayed lightly on the skin, meaning that there is no greasy oily feeling afterwards.

I can't describe scents so I won't even try. Trust me when I say that this smells amazing - luxurious, grown up, sexy.

Like i've said. this is a wonder product. It's one I cant imagine ever living without. It costs £27 (from SpaceNK) for 100ml so its definitely not cheap but its so effective I think its absolutely worth it.

You hardly need to use any of it each time either. I've had the bottle pictured since October, using it at least twice every week and you can see the amount i've used!

Not much else to say on this one really. If you're looking for a luxury product that will actually deliver amazing results, give this one a try. I promise you wont regret it!

MAC Hot Gossip Lipstick...

Hello Dears,

So to ease myself back into the whole blogging thing, I thought I would start off with a product that I just LOVE.

MAC Hot Gossip is a gorgeous lipstick. Described on the Mac website as a mid tone pinky plum, this has been my go to lipstick for the majority of the year. In fact, if I had to pick a lipstick that was my favourite of 2012, this would be it.

(it does look lighter in the bullet than the actual colour)

I find this lipstick extremely wearable. True enough, it is a pinky plum, more on the pink side than the plum though. Its the slight plum tone in this that makes it stand out to me, its just different enough not to be considered "just another pink"

I dont know enough about the different finishes on MAC lipsticks to talk about it but this is a cremesheen (if that means anything to you). Looking at my collection, this seems to be the formula that I have the most of, and, true enough, my absolute favourites are all cremesheens. The formula is lovely though, not drying but it feels rich on the lips. The colour is very pigmented and lasts ages with minimal touchups are needed. It definitely survives a sandwich!

Here's a wee picture of it on my lips. I am very VERY pale as you can see (though I have been ill so I am even more translucent than usual!) but I like the look of the lipstick against a my skin tone. It's pink but not too over the top.

This is absolutely my favourite lipstick. If you're looking for a MAC lipstick to pick up I would highly recommend this, its gorgeous and I will definitely be picking up a new one when this one is finished!

A New Year A New....Blog

Well Hello There! Long Time No See!

I havent posted on this blog for quite some time, since August 2012 in fact.

I'll be honest, things in my life outside of the internet had become quite out of control and I just didnt have it in me to devote the time and the energy to the blog. Anxiety and stress had begun to get the better of me and blogging was way way WAY down on my list of things to do.

But No More. The truth is, I actually really enjoy blogging. I enjoy the whole process of it. I know I've not been doing it for very long and i'm very much an amateur at this but amateurs can enjoy it just as much as the pros can right?!

I have started this year with a renewed sense of purpose. I am no longer going to let the negative aspects of my life (and the stress and anxiety associated with them) become all of my life. I need to devote some time in my life to the things I enjoy, one of those things being blogging. I need to make an effort to do so, knowing that the reward will be far better than any exhaustion I may feel.

So that being said, I am hoping to get some posts up over the next few days. I have had posts and even photographs that I've wanted to upload for a while but couldn't find the motivation to do so.

I'm trying hard to be positive this year. I'm a pretty negative person naturally, so this whole positivity thing is new to me but I'm hoping it will stick.

I'm really looking forward to getting back to blogging and to becoming more involved in this little world. Thats what its all about really isnt it? Carving out a little bit of time for yourself that you can really enjoy? That's what I'm going to do anyway. Hopefully you'll join me.
